The Graves family at their South Dakota pheasant hunting ranch in Pukwana, SD
About

A family ranch. A great hunt. A simple promise.

Prime Pheasant Hunting is built on twenty years of habitat work, family hospitality and a love for the prairie.

Our story

Two decades on the Graves Ranch.

Prime Pheasant Hunting near Pukwana, South Dakota operates on a 4,000-acre cattle ranch owned and managed by the Graves family for over twenty years. Three thousand of those acres are dedicated to producing the kind of pheasant habitat hunters travel cross-country for.

In 2012, Pheasants Forever crowned Chamberlain, SD the #1 Pheasant Hunting Town in America. We're proud to call it home — and even more proud of the work it takes to keep it that way. Year-round planting, smart rotations, working dogs, and the kind of land stewardship you only find on a working family ranch.

We host groups from across the country: family reunions, corporate retreats, hunting clubs, and longtime friends booking the same week every November. Whatever brings you here, we'll treat you like the only group on the ranch.

What we believe

Good ground makes good hunts.

Three principles that have run this place from day one.

Steward the Land

Habitat first. We plant, we burn, we rotate — and the birds reward us for it.

Hospitality, Always

Every group gets the same treatment: warm welcome, hot meals, and our undivided attention.

Make It Memorable

Hunts are about more than birds. They're about the people you're sharing the prairie with.
